Christy Burgess

Teaching Assistant

Christine Burgess grew up in Skaneateles, NY and she attended SUNY Geneseo for a BA in Childhood Education and MS in literacy. She always knew she wanted to be a teacher and she played "school" with her three siblings quite frequently while she was growing up.

Christine worked at GCCS last year as a substitute teacher and she is very excited to be a part of the GCCS community. She also subbed for the Rochester City School District during the past school year and she worked at a summer youth program for Cameron Community Ministries over the summer. She loves having fun with kids and likes to see them get excited about learning.

Christine got married this past summer and she enjoys spending time with her husband, reading books, watching movies, and playing sports.

Becki Mason

Classroom Teacher

Becki Mason has been teaching at GCCS since 2004 in the Kindergarten and 1st grade loop. This is her first year teaching 2nd grade. Before becoming a teacher, Becki worked in the Public Relations and Special Events field at places like the Blue Cross Arena, Mix 100.5, and Mary Cariola Children's Center. She always knew she wanted to be a teacher and went back to Nazareth College for her Master’s degree in Elementary Education. She also loves playing golf, traveling, and reading...but her most favorite thing is being a mommy to her 2-year-old daughter, Carly!

Kate Haley

Classroom Teacher

Kate Haley is a Rochester native and graduate of the Rochester City School District. She received her BA in Communication with a minor in Sociology from the University at Buffalo and spent a semester abroad in Galway, Ireland in 2000. Throughout college Kate worked at the Rochester Public Library and Strong National Museum of Play.

Upon graduating from UB, she took a position at Hillside Children’s Center as a sociotherapist in a community-based program and later as a behavior specialist at Churchville-Chili Junior High School. Her experience at Hillside reaffirmed her desire to work with children in a classroom setting. Kate obtained a Masters in Childhood and Special Education from Roberts Wesleyan College.

Kate worked at GCCS as a day-to-day and long-term substitute teacher for two years while attending courses in the evenings. She is delighted to be a part of the unique team at GCCS.

In her spare time Kate enjoys working in her garden and taking her dog, Sadie for walks. She loves movies, books, board games and playing with her nieces and nephews.
