Shannon Hillman
Classroom Teacher
Shannon Hillman has lived in Rochester all of her life. She has had a wide variety of teaching experiences before she joined the Genesee Community Charter School. During her college years, Shannon had several opportunities to experience education around the world in settings such as an alternative school in Kamuela, Hawaii and a small rural school in Britton's Neck, South Carolina. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics with a minor in Elementary Education from Wells College. After a year of teaching, she decided to pursue her Master’s Degree and a second certification in Teaching Students with Disabilities from Nazareth College. Shannon has taught most grade levels ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to Sixth Grade.
Shannon has always had a passion for teaching and was always in search of a school like GCCS. Since she has joined the staff, Shannon has had the opportunity to learn and grow with her students by traveling to Expeditionary Learning Institutes and Conferences. She won a Fund for Teachers grant to study Europe’s canals in July, 2006. When Shannon is not found within school grounds, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family, traveling, downhill skiing, or expressing herself through music.

Steve Lee-Davis
Classroom Teacher
Steve Lee-Davis moved to Rochester from Massachusetts in 2006 with eight years of classroom experience in a variety of educational settings from inner-city public schools to a private boarding school. His undergraduate degree is from Goddard College. He also has a Master's Degree in Art Education from Massachusetts College of Art with a focus in illustration. Prior to joining the ranks of teachers he worked as a manager at a bookstore and a graphic designer.
Outside of teaching, Steve enjoys camping with his wife and two daughters, playing disk-golf, painting, and good books.

Michelle Ericson
Teaching Assistant
Michelle was born in Denver, Colorado, and moved to Rochester in 1981, where she began her career as a graphic designer in the Communications Office of the Rochester Museum & Science Center. She left the museum in 1987 to raise here two daughters, and worked as a freelance designer from home.
Michelle earned the Child Development Associate Credential from the Council for Early Childhood Professional recognition in 1994. She has fifteen years' experience working with elementary school children. Since joining the Genesee Community Charter School in its inaugural year, Michelle has shared her enthusiasm and talents with the students and staff.
Michelle enjoys spending time with her two daughters, traveling, golfing, boating, canoeing, photography, and art.
