Maureen Lockner
Classroom Teacher
Maureen Lockner joined GCCS in its seventh year of operation. After earning her undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Arts For Children and Elementary Education from SUNY Brockport, Maureen envisioned working in a school that uses the arts in concert with academics. Sixteen years later, she found GCCS and feels “home.” Maureen holds a Masters Degree in Art Education from Nazareth College and has experience as an art, enrichment and classroom teacher. She has worked with students from pre-school through 12th grade.
Art is a life force for Maureen, she especially enjoys working with clay, colored pencils, handmade paper, found objects, watercolor, bookmaking and more. She welcomes the opportunity to create with others and has organized cooperative art endeavors that bring the voices of many to express a common theme. Maureen finds great inspiration and intrigue from the endless possibilities of how visual art promotes creativity, community and problem solving.
