Christy Khiosida

Teaching Assistant

Christy Khiosida is a native of the Rochester area. She grew up in Caledonia and now lives with her husband just a few miles from there in Mumford.

Christy is a graduate of Brockport State College where she earned her bachelor's degree in anthropology. Before joining the staff at GCCS, Christy worked with a special needs child as a one-on-one teacher's aide in the Henrietta and later in the Gates-Chili school districts. She began her tenure at GCCS in December of 2004. She loves the enthusiasm young children have for learning and is thriled to be a part of the kindergarten/first grade loop.

When Christy is not at GCCS, she enjoys spending time with her husband, reading, gardening, and daydreaming about her future travel plans.

Melissa Fredericks

Classroom Teacher

Melissa Fredericks has been teaching since 1998. She earned her undergraduate degree from SUNY Geneseo, and her Master’s degree from Nazareth College. She has been at Genesee Community Charter School since its second year and has taught 4th grade and the K-1 loop.She has also taught preschool and special education. Melissa loves the creativity, authentic purposes for learning and excitement embedded in Expeditionary Learning.

Outside of school, Melissa spends most of her time with her two daughters, Macey and Savannah. Together they like to take walks, go to new places, go to the YMCA and do art and science projects.
