Every Picture Tells a Story
WINTER, 2006-2007
First grade students explored Rochester's growth through the lens of a camera. They studied old photographs and took their own pictures to discover what changed as the city grew. They focused on how three specific infrastructures - water and sewage, roads and bridges, and electricity - improve life for people in a city. Student learned how the camera and film business developed in Rochester at the same time that these city infrastructures were expanding.
Students worked with a photography mentor to find their own perspectives and created a photo book that documents infrastructures in Rochester.
