SPRING, 2011-2012

Why did some people in America during the 1700’s want change?  How did historical events shape the beginnings of the United States?  What choices needed to be made as the United States became a country?  These questions will guide the fourth graders as they travel to Philadelphia, PA on a four-day overnight.  On their trip, they will encounter people, places and events that fueled the movement towards independence from England.  They will visit places such as Independence Hall and the Constitution Center.  After arriving back to school, they will continue to explore this content through book clubs and read alouds, using historical fiction and historical documents.  The final product for this expedition is exciting and will be revealed very soon!  Make sure to save the date – June 14, 2012 - for the big event!
