We the People...
SPRING, 2005-2006
During this expedition, Fourth graders focused on the birth of our country, beginning with contact made by European explorers and concluding with the adoption of the Constitution.
Each student focused on one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence or United States Constitution as they studied the historical events that led to the creation of these documents. Students were encouraged to take a critical view of history and to understand different perspectives on issues and events. They explored questions about how the Declaration of Independence and Constitution applied to all people who lived in America.
Much of students' initial research took place during a four-day field study in Philadelphia. Throughout the expedition, students transformed their character research into a dramatic live performance.
